Erich Raspe"The Adventures Of Baron Munchausen (Illustrated by Gustave Dore)"
PDF | ISBN not applicable | Year 1895 | 95 pages | English | 6.5MB
Rudolf/Rudolph Erich Raspe (1736-1794) was a German librarian, writer and scientist. He is best known for his collection of tall tales: The Surprising Adventures of Baron Munchausen (1785), originally a satirical work with political aims. The Baron Munchausen tales were made famous when they were 'borrowed', translated into German, and embellished somewhat by G. A. Brger in 1786 - and have been a favourite read of subsequent generations, as well as the basis of several films.
Baron Munchausen's astounding feats included riding cannonballs, traveling to the Moon, and pulling himself out of a bog by his own hair. The Baron's definitive visual image belongs to Gustave Dor, the artist famed for his engravings of scenes from the Divine Comedy, Don Quixote, and other literary classics.
