Reggiane RE-2005 Sagittario (Aviolibri Special 4) By Maurizio Di Terlizzi Publisher: Istituto Bibliografico Napoleone 1997 66 Pages ISBN: 8886815387 PDF 29 MB
From 1933 the Reggiane workshops formed part of the Caproni group. The Emilian firm started to dedicate itself to autonomous projects after having undertaken the construction under licence of the three engined Savoia-Marchetti Sm79 plane. In 1938 the technical department under the guidance of engineers Antonio Alessio and Roberto Longhi began the project for a single-seater fighter which led to the building of the Reggiane RE2000 "Falco" whose prototype, developed from a 1,000 h.p. radial engine Piaggio, flew in May 1939.
